Alvaro Pombo

Founder and CEO - Chief Executive Officer

Alvaro Pombo brings two decades of leadership and telecommunications experience to TrueContext. As CEO, he continues to play a fundamental role in driving strategy and is active in research and development, product strategy, and business development.

Prior to founding TrueContext, Pombo was CIO and Vice President of Global Information Technology for the Carrier Internetworking Division of Alcatel. He joined the company via its acquisition of Newbridge Networks (Feb 2000; $7.1B). Pombo had been Vice President of eCommerce and Director of Electronic Marketing with Newbridge. Under his leadership, the company’s e-business organization gained recognition as one of the highlights of the acquisition and helped establish a service-oriented model for the company.

Pombo has served as consultant to Palm and other technology leaders, and continues to help nurture entrepreneurs and innovation. Pombo holds a BS in Computer Engineering from Universidad de los Andes in Bogota, Colombia. Additionally he holds an MBA from the University of Ottawa and an executive degree from Georgetown University.
 
 

David Croucher

CFO - Chief Financial Officer

David Croucher is a senior financial executive who has been working with public and private companies in Canada and the U.S. for the past 20 years in high technology fields such as software, telecommunications equipment and biotechnology.

Mr. Croucher served as CFO for Liponex Inc., a biotechnology company listed on the TSXV, that was sold to Imasight Inc. in 2008. Mr. Croucher also worked with Chemaphor Inc., a biotechnology company also listed on the TSXV. Prior to that Mr. Croucher served as a Director of Finance for World Heart Corporation, a manufacturer and distributor of medical (heart assist) devices listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange and Nasdaq National Market. Prior to World Heart Corporation, he served as Director of Finance for Akara Corporation, a telecommunications equipment start-up company that was acquired by Ciena Corporation in 2003.

Mr. Croucher also served nine years in public accounting with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, working in Canada and the United States focusing on publicly traded and start-up high technology companies. He is a Chartered Accountant, a Certified Public Accountant registered in the United States and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Carleton University, Ottawa, Ontario.
 
 

Tim Moran

Senior Vice President, Sales

Tim Moran brings more than twenty years of telecommunications sales and business development experience to the leadership team at TrueContext.

Prior to joining TrueContext Moran spent nearly three years with Spotwave Wireless where he was responsible for creating and implementing the indirect channel and direct to operator sales strategies. Additionally, he has held senior sales management roles with EF Data Corporation, Adaptive Broadband and interWAVE Wireless. The breadth of his roles in newly formed and emerging companies is enhanced by more than a decade of progressively responsible positions in finance, business development and sales with Motorola, Inc. Moran's path to TrueContext also includes the successful formation of sales channels in more than thirty countries worldwide.

Moran graduated with a B.S. in Finance from the University of Maryland and holds professional negotiation certifications from Federal Publications, LLC and George Washington University.


 

Glenn Chenier

Vice President - Research and Development

Glenn Chenier has over 15 years of technical leadership and implementation experience in product and services development and enterprise IT systems.

Prior to joining TrueContext, Chenier led the software services design team at Alcatel-Lucent responsible for solutions to operationalize the IP service routing networks of several major telecom carriers. As product manager of knowledge management for at Alcatel-Lucent, he led the design and implementation of the Service Routing Knowledge Base and several other software solutions to operationalize the Service Routing Certification program. With Alcatel, Chenier led the implementation of the company's enterprise-wide web content management system, and several other components of their customer-facing relationship management systems.

Chenier holds a Masters degree in Social Sciences from the University of Ottawa.


 

Marc Séguin

Vice President - Business Development

Marc Séguin brings 25+ years of "early stage" business leadership in telecommunications, with a reputation for building sustainable growth businesses with solid brands. As his initial contribution to ProntoForms, Marc established and developed the AT&T sales channel, the pillar for current growth. Marc's current effort are focused at expanding carrier channels on a global basis, and nurturing strategic partnerships with device and application vendors.

Marc's past experience include contributions to a number of start-ups, including VeriSage (power generation equipment), Base Concept (turnaround, beverage business), BoardroomMetrics (consulting), and many years with Nortel Networks where he built 3 successful businesses, which are still generating revenues in their current "homes". Marc's diversified career covered most functions from R&D to sales, many international experiences, including 3-years in Europe, and many partnerships to his credit.

Marc holds a Bachelors of Science (Math) from McGIll, a Master in Computer Science from U. Of Waterloo, and an MBA from the Ivey Business School.


 

Mark Scott

Vice President - Marketing

Mark Scott brings more than twenty years of marketing experience to the leadership team at TrueContext.

Scott has managed marketing strategies and projects for several companies & institutions, most recently with Optosecurity, a venture financed company developing new patented products for the aviation and critical infrastructure security markets, and ProDrive Systems, a Medtech company developing innovative new medical instruments.

Scott graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Concordia University in Montreal.
 
 

Terrence Matthews

Chairman

Sir Terence Matthews is the founder and Chairman of Wesley Clover, an investment vehicle and holding company. Terry has either founded or funded over 80 companies since 1972 including Newbridge Networks, a company he founded in 1986 and which became a leader in the worldwide data networking industry. In 1972, before launching Newbridge, Terry co-founded Mitel, a world leader in the design and manufacture of enterprise communications solutions. Wesley Clover now has interests in a broad range of next-generation technology companies, real estate, hotels and resorts.

In addition to being the Chairman of Wesley Clover, Terry is also Chairman or Director of a number of private and publicly traded companies.

Terry holds an honours degree in electronics from the University of Wales and is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical Engineers and of the Royal Academy of Engineering. In 1994, he was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire, and in the 2001 Queen's Birthday Honours, he was awarded a Knighthood.

In 2011, he was appointed Patron of the European Cancer Stem Cell Research Institute.

Peter Charbonneau

Member

Peter Charbonneau has held the position of General Partner at Skypoint Capital Corporation, an early-stage technology venture capital firm, since 2001. Prior to joining Skypoint Capital as Executive Vice President in 2000, he spent 13 years at Newbridge Networks Corporation acting as Chief Financial Officer, Executive Vice President, President, and Chief Operating Officer and Vice Chairman.

Mr. Charbonneau served as a member of Newbridge's board of directors between 1996 and 2000. He has been a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario since 1979 and, in 2003, he was elected by the Council as a Fellow of the Institute in recognition of outstanding career achievements and leadership contributions to the community and the profession. Mr. Charbonneau serves on the board of directors of a number of technology companies including BreconRidge Manufacturing Solutions Corporation, Mitel Networks Corporation, TrueContext Corporation, Galazar Networks Inc. and Trellia Networks Inc.


 
 

Amar Bhalla

Member

Amar Bhalla is the President of Capit Investment Corp., an investment management firm focused on private equity and venture capital. He formerly served as Chief Executive Officer of Crescent Logic Inc., a Toronto-based software firm. Prior to joining Crescent Logic, Mr. Bhalla allocated capital in both public and private ventures on behalf of Toronto-based investment groups. He currently sits on the Board of Nyah Resources, TriNorth Capital, Carlaw Capital III, and is the Chair and Lawrence Asset Management's Independent Review Committee. Mr. Bhalla received his C.F.A. designation in September 2004 and received his B.A. degree from McGill University in June 1999.


 
 

Jon Shantz

Jon Shantz is a highly respected professional throughout the communications industry. His extensive experience includes most recently the role of senior vice president of business development at Openwave Systems. Prior to Openwave, Shantz served as general manager of the Mobile Business Unit of Cisco Systems. While at Cisco, he developed and led the Cisco Powered Networks, a premier industry alliance program, and spent several years developing new markets for Cisco. Before joining Cisco, Shantz spent 10 years at Bell Labs working in the services development and data networking areas. Prior to Bell, he oversaw the data networking initiatives at British Telecom in the United Kingdom.


 
 

Ravi Sood

Mr. Sood is the Chairman of Galane Gold Ltd., a junior gold producing company and Feronia Inc., a plantations and arable farming company. From 2004 until 2010 Mr. Sood was the Chief Executive Officer of Navina Asset Management Inc., a specialized global asset management firm. Mr. Sood holds a Bachelor of Mathematics with distinction from the University of Waterloo.


 
 

Jim Davies

Member

Mr. Davies has worked at Mitel Networks Corporation ("Mitel") since 1998. He has held a number of technology and business-related roles at Mitel, including Director of New Technology, Vice President of R&D, Vice President of Solutions Management, Vice President of SME Business Unit, Chief Strategy Officer and Chief Technology Officer. Mr. Davies was instrumental in starting and driving the VoIP product line at Mitel.

Before Mitel, Mr. Davies worked at BNR, the research wing of Nortel Networks in a number of technology and technology management roles. His educational background is undergraduate and postgraduate studies in electrical and mechanical engineering at Queen's in Kingston Ontario.


 
 

Ed Ogonek

Ed Ogonek joined the TrueContext Board of Directors in September 2011. Mr. Ogonek brings over 25 years of experience in telecommunications, data networking and multi-media services. Mr. Ogonek is currently Vice President - Data Experience Solutions with Amdocs which acquired Bridgewater Systems Corporation in August 2011 where Mr. Ogonek was President and CEO since May 2004. Previously Mr. Ogonek served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Akara Corporation, which was acquired by CIENA in August 2003. Mr. Ogonek's prior experience includes key executive and general management positions at Ciena, Newbridge Networks, Alcatel, British Telecom and Bellcore.

Prior to CIENA, Ed was president and chief executive officer of Akara Corporation, which was acquired by CIENA in August 2003. Ed's prior experience includes key executive and general management positions at Newbridge Networks, Alcatel, British Telecom and Bellcore. Ed received a bachelor's degree in mathematics from John Carroll University and a master's degree in operations research from Case Western Reserve University.
